Palace Laura History
Was Laura Palace built in the late nineteenth century in the wedding of Donna Candida Donnicola and lawyer Antonio Cacciatore.
It is said that the father of Ms Candida, Niccolò Donnicola, wanted his daughter were imposed, once married, to Morciano di Leuca.
Niccolò Donnicola, however, could not find a husband willing to this: all the suitors had in their country of castles, palaces and baronial or marquis did not intend to move to other places, until it came the marriage proposal lawyer Cacciatore, landowner Miggiano.
The latter's father, Vincenzo Cacciatore, seconded the desire of Niccolò Donnicola, pronouncing these words:
"Means that a Morciano build a nice house for the newlyweds"
There are no precise dates for the construction of the building but, knowing for certain the date of the wedding that was celebrated in 1906, whereas it took to build at least 10 years, technical expertise established that the date of commencement of work goes back to ' about around 1896.
Even the experts speak of the oldest existing residential dwelling, which coincides with the environments at the bottom of the building, below ground level and identified with the drinking and the Aparo.
The building has undergone substantial changes over time except for some tricks and flourishes due to the creation of murals done run Liberty period (early twenties of the twentieth century) in the master bedroom, hall, lounge in the music (where there is still a wall and numerous piano sheet music and operettas of the time) and in the dining room (the latter painted by the master by Davide Giannetta Ortelle).
The building was born, and then, as a palace, "Cacciatore - Donnicola" and as such is still known among the locals and neighboring countries.
The story is something permanent, which can not be canceled or put on the back burner and, as such, the story of palace Cacciatore is the story of men, ideas, experience of this important family and generosity that has made that has been for many years a landmark for the community morcianese.
It is no coincidence that the different rooms now welcoming guests of the B & B Laura Palace, bear the names of those who were the owners of the building, not to mention the beloved housekeeper, Iaia.
Today, however, to remember in particular the generosity, kindness and gentleness of spirit
Donna Laura Cacciatore,
the B & B has been dedicated to her.
